ASM influential in development of another route success for Lima Airport Partners

Airport Strategy & Marketing Ltd (ASM), the world’s leading route development consultancy, is delighted with the introduction of a new air service for Lima Airport Partners, one of its former clients. Air France has announced the launch of a 5-weekly schedule of flights between Paris and Lima, to start in June 2011, the development of which ASM has been actively involved in.

ASM began working with Lima Airport Partners in 2004 and was tasked with undertaking a strategic study of the air service market as well as opportunities for development at Lima Airports. The consultants established that additional capacity was required in order to serve the increasing demand for travel to Peru. They then identified opportunities for the development of direct air service capacity to Lima from a number of key markets, including Europe.

An initial market analysis was carried out, which identified that France was the second largest unserved market between Europe and Lima, and that Paris was the second largest unserved city market.

Having recognised the market opportunity, ASM undertook further research to quantify the potential. Several route forecasts were prepared for Air France and initial discussions took place at World Routes in Copenhagen in 2005. Having completed the groundwork for this route development, ASM facilitated further communication between Lima Airport Partners and Air France. The consultants then handed over responsibility for the final stages of this venture to Lima Airport Partners.

Allison Brierley, Consultant at ASM, said: “We are thrilled that Air France has decided to introduce direct services to Lima. Our analysis identified the potential for the introduction of additional capacity from Europe, and as there is significant demand from Paris, it comes as no surprise that Air France has recognised the opportunity. The new service will provide business and leisure travellers with increased choice and more direct access to the capital of Peru and beyond.”
