Baltic Holidays, the UK`s specialist tour operator to the Baltic States, has increased its range of holiday options with the launch of its 2005 brochure, following the overwhelming success of new low-cost flights to the region.

Adding to its already diverse range of holidays and tours in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, the operator has introduced a Poland to Russia tour and cycling holidays, taking travellers to the hidden corners of the Baltics.

Phil Teubler, managing director of Baltic Holidays says: We`ve seen a massive increase in interest in the Baltics since the countries joining the EU in May 2004. Carriers have increased daily flights to the region due to demand. Air Baltic added direct flights to Riga from Manchester and to Vilnius from Gatwick, increasing competition. Our bookings have increased by 25% in the last 6 months alone.

We`re also discovering how wide our potential market is, because of the region`s unique opportunities. We`re now offering everything from Kalashnikov training at a former Russian base for 20-somethings to family beach holidays on the Baltic`s sublime sandy beaches. Spa holidays are also selling well, while older clients adore tours of the pristine lakes and forest countryside or exploring the craft and amber markets.

Brits are looking for more exotic and more affordable short-breaks. For the traveller who has paraded in Paris, praised Prague and roamed Rome, the sights and sounds of the Baltics make for a fascinating change. Not only are costs half what you might find in the more traditional short-break destinations of the West, the cities are also less flooded with package tourists.
