Convention Bureaux in Gdansk (Poland) and Jonkoping (Sweden) signed a partnership agreement

Cooperation between CVBs across the world is a relatively new trend. Gdansk Convention Bureau is the first Polish CVB to establish cooperation with a bureau from abroad. In such a competitive market as the meeting industry it is a good way to improve activities. Learning from each other is the reason why Jonkoping and Gdansk CVBs decided to start a formal partnership.

It’s the purpose of the partnership between the two Convention Bureaux to support each other in the development of short and long term strategies. Mutual aid will also improve day-to-day work in order to get an advantage over the competitors in the respective destination marketing, especially concerning conferences and congresses.Gdansk and Jonkoping will have mutual site inspections to receive a professional feedback from European CVB-colleagues and to adapt to colleagues advice. The CVB that invites to the destination covers all costs. The visit shall be like a real site inspection including venues, hotels, local competence centres (University, Hospital etc) and tourist attractions.

CVBs will exchange information on a regular basis. They will share information on CVB day-to-day work, give advice on participation in international associations events, tradesows, roadshows, etc. "Every second month we will exchange a letter about the last activities regarding work of the Convention Bureau. The first one is to be sent in March 2012" Anna Gorska, Gdansk CVB CEO.

The cooperation aim is to exchange knowledge between the cities, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each CVB and the ability to improve the daily workflow as well as the overall outcome. "We will check each other’s marketing material, exchange opinion on tools for statistical support and social media profiles, see how ambassadors programmes work in Poland and Sweden, learn from each other experience in bidding and model for cooperation with local partners" said Ante Jankovic, Jonkoping CVB Manager.
