Discover the unique venues of England

A new publication will inspire professional meeting planners and major corporations from the UK to choose England as the perfect place to meet

A new publication will inspire professional meeting planners and major corporations from the UK to choose England as the perfect place to meet . The 46-page guide, Unique Venues of England, provides snapshots of unique and quirky venues and the wide range of facilities on offer throughout the nine regions of England.

Published by VisitBritain’s Meet England department, Unique Venues of England is the first of its domestic marketing initiatives and encourages readers to reconsider what England has to offer with a directory of different venues in each region. The guide showcases centuries of heritage, inspiring countryside, world-class events and unique cultural experiences combined with the ongoing commercial regeneration of England’s cities. It highlights tourism organisations around the country offering exclusive experiences as part of incentive programmes, unusual accommodation, and meeting places and venues with state-of-the-art facilities.

Sarah Mayfield, Meet England manager, said:

“It is estimated that 85% of event planners use their own ‘in-house’ knowledge when considering which venues to book. Unique Venues of England will help educate British businesses of the rich variety of opportunities available right here in their own country, whether they want to treat delegates to a close-up with fascinating celebrity cars at the National Motor Museum or dine alongside sharks and wobbegongs in the Ocean’s Gallery at the Deep in Hull.

“With UK residents making 18.4 million business trips and spending £5.1 billion in England every year, Unique Venues of England is an invaluable tool in boosting the value of business tourism in England and raising the profile of destinations in every region of the country.”

Discretionary business tourism, which includes corporate meetings, hospitality, events and conferences, has an estimated value of £10 billion. Around a third of the bookings that contribute to the value of this sector of the industry are made through professional event planners in the UK, with associations, corporations and other organisations making bookings directly.

Sponsored by Sodexho Prestige, 10,000 copies of the guide will be distributed to key businesses in England and it can also be ordered from the website, www.meetengland.com. It will also be included with the March/April edition of Incentive Travel and Corporate Meetings magazine. An ‘on-line’ version of Unique Venues of England, www.meetengland.com/uniquevenues, complements the guide with dedicated pages outlining facilities in greater detail.

The meetEngland team will also distribute the guide at the IMEX exhibition in Frankfurt in April to raise awareness of England as a destination among the world’s meeting planners.
