Greek private carriers Cronus Airlines<.> and Aegean Airlines<.> have struck a deal for strategic cooperation aimed at expanding the number of scheduled domestic flights each firm offers.

The companies have signed a codesharing agreement which provides passengers with a wider choice of flights as each destination will have a common code.

Travellers who purchase a ticket from one of the airlines can use it to fly with the other at no extra charge.

The two firms have a combined fleet of 15 aircraft and, together, conduct 140 flights daily and cover 18 destinations in Greece and broad.

Indicative of their rapid rise in the air travel sector, Cronus and Aegean expect that April will have seen the airlines carry more than 200,000 passengers – on domestic flights alone, up from 70,000 for the same month last year, representing a jump of 185 percent.

The carriers anticipate transporting more than 300,000 passengers combined on a monthly basis through their newly-formed network while the total number of weekly flights should exceed 800.
