New Olympics marketing campaign by British Airways declares “Don’t Fly. Support Team GB.” The aim of the campaign is to convince Britons to stay to the country during the London Olympics and Paralympic Games. The company propel the benefit of "home advantage" for athletes who perform in their own country. According to a statement the carrier declares that “Millions of Britons have juggled holiday plans to be in the UK for the Games.”
The carrier launched the campaign on Facebook and premiered a new TV advert during England’s European Championship football match against Ukraine.
The advert features a BA aircraft taxiing by road through London to the soundtrack of London Calling by The Clash. The tagline “Don’t Fly. Support Team GB and ParalympicsGB” appears as the aircraft reaches the Olympic Park.
Frank van der Post, BA managing director of brands and customer experience, said: “We’re rallying the country to get behind Team GB and ParalympicsGB.”
Van der Post said that includes “delaying your summer holiday”. “We are encouraging every clap, cheer and whoop we can get,” he added.
People who nonetheless choose to fly will be able to watch the action on screens in the lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5, and British Airways will host a dedicated area at the Olympic Park for up to 10,000 fans to watch the Olympics live on giant screens.
The carrier is the official airline partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB.
