Emerald Point Marina will remain open to recreational boating, despite Austin’s drought. Several news media have been reporting the closing of the Lake Travis’s public boating ramps giving the public the impression that the lake is closed.
According to Doug Powell, General Manager of Emerald Point Marina in Austin, the lake itself is "open for boating and will remain open to recreational boating despite the drought and low lake levels." Private boat owners who have their vessels docked at Emerald Point may continue to use them at their will and boat rentals remain accessible.
Emerald Point Marina is based 20 minutes outside of Austin, TX and is a part of Flagship Marinas, a marina company founded in 1998. Flagship owns approximately 10,000 dry and wet slips across the country, and ranks among the top three marina companies in the United States.
