Amadeus, global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, today announced that fifty leading airlines in Europe, Middle East and Africa have agreed to give Amadeus subscribers low fares, full schedules, last seat availability and associated inventory for distribution through all channels, under the Amadeus Full Content Option, announced in November, 2004.

With this, Amadeus gives travel agents the peace of mind of knowing that they have access to the web-fares of the largest airlines in their market. Moreover, travel agents can make bookings on 25 low-cost carriers, including Air Tran and Independence Air in the US and Westjet in Canada and Air Berlin in Germany. Finally, Amadeus` pioneering agreement with British Airways, announced in February 2004, is still delivering essential low-fare content to travel agents in the UK.

David Jones, Amadeus` Executive Vice President, Commercial, says, Delivering the right content to our travel agency partners in 217 markets around the world is absolutely fundamental to our business. We will continue to invest to ensure that Amadeus has the widest range of relevant travel content on offer – whether that is web fares, unique hotels, or the world`s widest range of cruise lines.

In the first quarter of 2005, Amadeus continued to support travel agents in 66,000 locations around the world, with the addition of the following content:

  • Airlines: Fifty airlines have signed agreements to distribute web fares through Amadeus in Europe, Middle East and Africa, including Air France, CSA Czech Airlines, dba, Iberia, Lufthansa and Norwegian Air Shuttle. Travel agents can also make bookings on 25 low-cost carriers through Amadeus.
  • Cruise Lines: Thomson Cruise Lines and Clipper Cruises (which specialises in cruises on small ships) were added to the Amadeus system.
  • Car companies: In March, Amadeus became the only GDS to sign a global agreement with holiday autos, the world`s leading leisure car rental company.
