Germanwings have insured their further expansion with the order of 18 new Jets by Airbus and an option for 12 more aircrafts. The order was signed by the Management of the low-cost airline and representatives of Airbus on Thursday, June 16th 2005, during the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. The first aircrafts type Airbus A 319 with 156 seats each will be delivered in 2006.

Dr. Joachim Klein, Chairman of the Directory Board of Germanwings: With this configuration, Airbus A 319 is the ideal aircraft for our business model, and insures an ideal cost structure. The Airbus A 319 is the most modern aircraft of its Class and belongs to the most cost-effective aircrafts. With this new order we insure the long-term planning of our fleet, while at the same time, we make sure that we will continue to be able to offer cheap tickets to our clients, continued Dr. Joachim Klein.
