The second of three British Airways Boeing 767s removed from service following the discovery of low traces of a radioactive substance has been given the all clear by UK government agencies. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has cleared the aircraft for future service and said it does not believe that passengers on the second aircraft G-BNWX – were at risk over the past month. This aircraft had flown 59 of the 221 flights identified.

The news follows Thursday 30th November announcement that aircraft, registration G-BZHA, was also cleared to return to service and also had not posed a risk to customers on its 72 flights in the past month.

Both of these aircraft have also received authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority to return to commercial service.

The third aircraft, registration G-BNWB, which has been held at Moscow airport, landed back at London Heathrow at 2100 on Friday December 1. Monitoring is complete and the aircraft has been cleared by the HPA. This aircraft had flown the remaining 90 of the 221 flights initially identified.
