Iberia and TACA have signed an important code-sharing and traffic distribution agreement, and plan to extend it to other areas of cooperation.

Under the agreement, Iberia will distribute its passenger traffic to the several Central American destinations to which it does not fly directly, significantly increasing the number of connection options among Central American cities and Europe. The arrangement attests to Iberia`s firm

commitment to these markets with a product suited to passengers` needs, by supplying an adequate number of seats to these Central American destinations.

The agreement will take effect starting October 1.

From that date forward, Iberia will make direct flights to the region, which will arrive daily at San Jose, Costa Rice, and three days a week at both Guatemala City and Panama City, as follows:.

  • Madrid – Guatemala – San Jose – Madrid: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and

    Saturdays.

  • Madrid – San Jose – Panama – Madrid: Mondays, Wednesdays, and

    Fridays.

  • Madrid – San Jose – Madrid: Sundays.

In addition thanks to the code-sharing arrangement with TACA, customers on both sides of the Atlantic will be able to fly any day of the week between Europe and the main Central American cities, those mentioned above and also

Managua, San Salvador, and San Pedro Sula, in a major increase of the alternatives now existing in this market.

Accordingly, the flight programme to the several destinations will be as follows:

San Jose. In addition to the daily direct return flights offered by Iberia daily, passengers bound for Spain can fly under code-sharing with TACA every day via Miami.

Guatemala City. In addition to Iberia`s three weekly return flights, passengers can fly in cooperation with TACA via Miami and/or San Jose.

Panama City. Iberia`s three weekly direct return flights are complemented by four more under code-sharing with TACA from San Jose.

Managua. Daily flights from San Jose under code-sharing with TACA. For return journeys passengers can fly via Miami under code-sharing with TACA.

San Pedro Sula. Daily flights under code-sharing with TACA via San Jose and/or Miami.

El Salvador. Daily connections under code-sharing with TACA via San Jose, Miami, and/or Havana.

With these accords, Iberia and TACA will multiply the options for flying between Europe and the key Central American cities, with direct flights to three regional capitals and easy connections to the others.
