New company eyes cruise market

A new company was formed recently with the goal of building and operating four luxury Megayachts. Harmony<.> Cruises is headed by Gina Mamidaki, chairman of the Mamidakis group of hotels, and Lakis Venetopoulos, chairman of Zeus Cruises. The vessels, which represent an investment of 10 billion drachmas, will be constructed in Greece, fly under the Greek flag, have a 49-80 passenger capacity along with a 17-30 person crew and will carry out itineraries in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean.
Harmony Cruises` objective is to offer its clients a superior level of service and safety aboard well-appointed, hi-tech yachts and at the same time meet a global demand for such cruises. The firm believes its passengers should feel as if they have been invited aboard a tycoon`s yacht.
Harmony G, the company`s first Megayacht, is already under construction and is expected to begin sailing the Greek isles by spring 2000. The 53-metre vessel will host 44 passengers in 18 cabins and four suites.
It will be followed by Harmony A in 2002, Mystique Blue in 2003 and Blue Melody in 2004.
