Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has scooped a brilliant win double at this month’s World Travel Awards in New York.
Chairman Tom Nutley and Group Exhibition Director Fiona Jeffery walked off with two of the premier prizes from this travel industry showpiece.
Nutley was handed the’ Travel Personality of the Year’ trophy for 2003, voted into top spot by government ministers and directors of tourism.
His success in this prestigious category follows in the footsteps of such luminaries as R.H.Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, Chairman and founder of Sandals and Beaches, Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin Group and Rossi Ralenkotter, Vice President of Marketing Las Vegas Convention and Visitors’ Authority.
Ms Jeffery collected the honours for World Travel Market.
It took the accolade as ‘World’s Leading Travel Exhibition’ award for its triumphant debut last year in the new venue of London Docklands’ ExCeL. This is the event’s second accolade after its move to ExCeL – in the summer it took the London Tourism ‘Innovation in Business Tourism’ award.
World Travel Market, which is being held at London ExCeL again from November 10-13 with exhibitors from 190 countries, gained its recognition at the World Travel Awards from a strong field of nominations, including FITUR,
Spain, ITB, Germany, PATA Mart and another RTE event, AIME, Australia.
World Travel Market was acknowledged not only for its successful move to a new venue but its status as the leading exhibition for the travel industry.
Professionals from 80,000 travel agencies spread over more than 200 countries cast votes.
