LONDON-WTM `99. For some time now visitors to Cyprus have begun to realise that the island`s close proximity to Egypt, Holy Land, Beirut or Rhodes is a real advantage and short cruises to these attractive destinations are part of their holiday.

Louis<.> cruise Lines in cooperation with more than 50 tour operators from all over Europe is offering 2 and 3 day cruises with full day excursions to Cairo, Rhodes, and Beirut with the new excursion to the fascinating historical site of Baalbeck.

The visit to the most colossal monuments of Baalbeck is expected to be the highlight of the 2-day cruise to Lebanon.

For the summer season of 2000, Louis Cruise Lines is offering to the holiday makers 8 departures per week i.e. two to the Holy Land, two to Egypt, two to both Israel and Egypt, one to Rhodes, and one to Beirut. During 1999 more than 120.000 holidaymakers mainly British took a short cruise with Louis to these fascinating destinations. Louis operates 8 cruise ships out of which 3 are chartered to Thomson, First Choice and France Croisiers.

During 1999 Louis Cruise Lines went public on the Cyprus Stock Exchange and a few days ago has announced the acquisition of 70% of ROC Holdings which is the owner of 51,4% of Royal Olympic Cruise Lines, a Nasdaq listed company.

Royal Olympic Cruise Lines owns 8 cruise ships and has ordered two new vessels the `Olympic Voyager` and the `Olympic Explorer` which will be the fastest cruise ships in the world.

The two companies will work independently and cooperate in order to take advantage of synergies both on cost and revenue sides.
