The Slovak Tourist Board is gradually closing the fair and exhibition season of the first half of the year 2006. From May 30 to June 1, it will present the Slovak Republic at the largest European exhibition focused on meetings and incentive travel.

The Slovak Tourist Board (STB) will take part at the IMEX exhibition in Frankfurt for the 3rd time. STB thus clearly shows its interest in activities aimed at MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Exhibitions/Events) which is considered to be rapidly developing in central Europe.

After its EU entry, Slovakia has become an interesting new destination, so far undiscovered by international PCOs, DMCs and incentive houses. STB will present it as a country of good conference and at the same time incentive possibilities. The visitors to the Slovak stand at the IMEX 2006 Frankfurt exhibition will be provided with a specialised catalogue of international standard MICE facilities in Slovakia.

A special presentation and the “Happy hour” program will be followed by Slovak wine tasting, jazz concerts as well as a draw of the winner of flight tickets and weekend stays in congress hotels in Slovakia. Co-exhibiting at the Slovak stand will be the region of High Tatras, Poprad, the village of Mojmirovce, Banska Bystrica Self-governing Region, representatives of the Slovak Association of Travel Agents and tourism businesses.

IMEX Frankfurt is the essential worldwide exhibition for meetings and incentive travel. Its 4th year will feature 3000 exhibitors.

Meetings and incentive tourism is considered to be the most efficient part of tourism industry in the world representing significant income. According to the Union of International Associations, a congress participant spending 4 nights in a city brings $1000 net income to the city budget. Slovakia currently offers conference facilities with the number of seats from 100 to 600. The most important MICE destinations in the Slovak Republic are Bratislava and the region of the High Tatras.
