Stena adventurer celebrates successful first year

The Stena Adventurer is celebrating a successful first year on the Irish Sea…

The Stena Adventurer is celebrating a successful first year on the Irish Sea with the announcement that passenger and vehicle traffic volumes on the Dublin to Holyhead route have increased significantly.

Market-leading ferry company Stena Line introduced the €100M Superferry in July last year and the investment is already beginning to pay off – as the latest figures show.

Compared to the previous year`s volumes, passenger numbers since the arrival of the Stena Adventurer have increased dramatically by almost 200,000 passengers whilst car traffic has jumped by almost 50,000 units.

And that`s not all. Coach figures are up by more than 1000 whilst Stena Line Freight enjoyed an increase of 34,000 units on the route.

Route Director Vic Goodwin is naturally delighted with the new ship`s performance.

The past year has been a very successful one for Stena Line in which we have increased market share and volumes despite intense competition from rival operators and airlines, said Vic.

The addition of the Stena Adventurer to our fleet and continued investment has helped ensure that we maintain our position as market leader on the Irish Sea.

We are thrilled that the Adventurer has been such a big hit with the Irish public and aim to keep this going with an ever-growing product range and the unrivalled levels of service that sets Stena Line apart from the rest,
he added.

The Stena Adventurer is one of the flagships of our fleet and has impressed passengers with its reliability, punctuality and levels of comfort and service on board. The significant increases in both passenger and vehicle traffic reflect this.

At 211 Metres, the Stena Adventurer is the longest ever ferry to service any Irish Sea route. Weighing almost 45,000 Tons and boasting a deck capacity of 3,400 lane metres, the ship`s arrival increased freight capacity by 70% and passenger capacity by 50% on the Central Corridor route.

The 11 deck vessel offer guests the highest standards of comfort and luxury, including Bars, Restaurants, dedicated Motorists and Freight Drivers Lounge, Retail Outlet, Cinema, Gaming Areas, Conference Rooms, Cabins and Children`s Play Areas.
