UVL launched its first comprehensive training programme

Bucking the trend for cutting back on training, Unique Venues of London (UVL) has launched its first comprehensive training programme exclusively for its members.

A collection of London’s most iconic, unusual and stunning venues, UVL aim to equip its members with skills to encourage business growth in the events and meetings sector.

Following a survey across all 69 affiliated venues, UVL has devised a course structure to incorporate topics and areas of interest identified by the members themselves. ZSL London Zoo, Trinity House, Imperial War Museum, Tate Modern, the Design Museum and Middle Temple are among those who have already signed up to the scheme.

Implemented in association with MG Training Solutions, the leading sales training consultancy for hotels and venues, courses include maximising event enquiry conversion, selling on a showround, proactive telephone sales and developing a sales strategy for the recession.

“UVL has a responsibility to ensure that each venue gains value from their membership not only through networking and exhibitions, but also through problem sharing and training” comments Lisa Hatswell Chairman of UVL and Sales and Corporate Events Manager at the London Eye.

Lisa added: “Whilst some venues have decided to cut back on training, we feel that it plays a vital role within our organisation and is extremely beneficial to our members. These joint member training sessions are ideal for all our venues, especially those with smaller teams and lesser budgets who can gain valuable insights from training with their peers. Feedback so far has been very positive, and we have plans in place to replicate the programme on an annual basis”.
