World Medical Tourism Congress announces two new speakers from AETNA and CIGNA

World Medical Tourism & Global Health Congress, the largest Medical Tourism Convention in the world and the official event of the Medical Tourism Association, announces two new speakers from CIGNA and AETNA, two of the largest health insurance companies in the United States for its upcoming congress this year on September 9-12th in San Francisco, California, USA.

The Two new speakers will include:

CHARLES M. CUTLER, M.D., M.S. – Chief Medical Director for National Accounts for Aetna Insurance Company will speak on the topic of Medical Tourism.

Dr. Cutler is the current Chief Medical Director for National Accounts for Aetna and responsible for the clinical strategy and clinical sales team that serves Aetna’s largest customers. In that role, he has participated in the development of new programs and products such as medical tourism, value based benefits, and customized medical management programs.

LORNIA FRIEDMAN – Medical Director for CIGNA, Marketing and Emerging Markets will also be speaking at the event on the topic of medical tourism.

An additional speaker is J.D. Frame, Professor – International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery will also be discussing issues and safety in Plastic Surgery and Medical Tourism.

The Congress has a line up of expert senior healthcare leaders from organizations such as the American Medical Association (AMA) and Procter & Gamble, one of the largest employers in the US, to large US insurance carriers such as United Healthcare, Aetna, Assurant Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Symetra Life Insurance Company, and Guardian Life Insurance Company.

Over 30 health insurance companies have registered for this event, as well as many health insurance consultants and employers. Over 100 hospitals from over 40 countries have registered for the event, and the event will feature approximately 50 exhibitors from all over the world. Exhibitors will range from insurance providers, to hospitals, to tourism boards to stem cell therapy companies. The official sponsors of this event are Costa Rica, Singapore, Korea, Philippines, Monterrey, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Barcelona, Australia, India Trent Accreditation Scheme, and the International Medical Spa Association.

The congress will also be attended by the Minister of Tourism of Malaysia, the honorable Azalina Othman Syed, and the Minister of Health for Costa Rica, Dr. Maria Luisa Avila.

"The interest in US and international insurance companies in researching and implementing Medical Tourism is a major reason for their attendance at the Congress. The Congress shall have a heavy focus on networking hospitals, facilitators and insurance companies. This is the first event in the world where insurance companies are specifically coming to meet hospitals, this is going to be an amazing world class event," said Jonathan Edelheit, President of the Medical Tourism Association.

The new Medical Tourism Association Accreditation Program will also be discussed at the upcoming congress, with a focus on how the new Medical Tourism accreditation program will ensure quality and patient safety.
