Jet2.com and Jet2holidays win top award for Lanzarote tourism

The prestigious “Isla de Lanzarote 2012” award recognises commitment to developing tourism on the popular Canary Island and was presented to Jet2.com and Jet2holidays who have expanded capacity to Lanzarote by over 200,000 seats across seven UK bases for 2013.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have received the prestigious “Isla de Lanzarote 2012” award for boosting tourism by the Lanzarote Tourist Board beating all other airlines operating to Lanzarote to this huge award.

The award recognises commitment to developing tourism on the popular Canary Island and was presented to Jet2.com and Jet2holidays who have expanded capacity to Lanzarote by over 200,000 seats across seven UK bases for 2013. New services from Blackpool and Belfast were launched earlier this year, along with year-round flights from Manchester, East Midlands, Glasgow and Leeds Bradford airports. The increased capacity means holidaymakers have even more opportunity to fly to this year round hotspot.

“We are delighted to receive this award from the Lanzarote Tourist Board. It highlights our commitment and investment in one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations.”

“This year we have significantly expanded our flights and holidays to Lanzarote to include year-round flights, extra capacity and additional departure airports in the UK. We will continue to work closely with all our local partners and now contract over 80 hotels directly on the Island to ensure our customers have the best possible choice and great value deals when booking their holiday to Lanzarote” said Steve Heapy, Chief Commercial Officer.

Hector Fernandez Manchado, Managing Director of Lanzarote Tourism, said: “We’re glad to see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays awarded for the strong commitment they have shown in the 5 years they have been working with us”.
