Low cost carrier Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras joins UATP Network as a merchant

The airline has been named "Best low-cost airline in South America" at the Skytrax World Airlines Awards every year since 2011.

WASHINGTON – UATP announced that low cost carrier Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras has become a party to the UATP Network as a Merchant and now accepts all UATP cards for payment.

“We are thrilled to add one of Brazil’s leading airlines to the UATP Network,” said Ralph Kaiser, president and CEO, UATP. “Business travel is booming in Brazil where spending reached $31B in 2013, and, although Brazil’s corporate travel market continues to grow, there is still a challenge to gain market share. As a UATP Merchant, Azul has positioned itself to take on this challenge and capitalize on new opportunities.”

Azul was created in 2008 by the founder of JetBlue Airways, David Neeleman. The airline has been named “Best low-cost airline in South America” at the Skytrax World Airlines Awards every year since 2011. Azul is the third largest airline in Brazil and flies to more than 100 destinations.
