MIA to welcome Spanish carrier Air Europa in June

Air Europa will launch three weekly nonstop flights on June 4, utilizing Airbus A330-200 aircraft arranged in a two-class, 299-seat configuration with 24 seats in Business Class and 275 seats in Economy Class.

MIAMI – MIA will welcome back two international carriers in the coming months with Spanish carrier Air Europa announcing new Miami-Madrid service and XL Airways France announcing seasonal service between MIA and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

“The addition of Air Europa and XL Airways France to MIA’s growing list of international carriers is the latest affirmation of our community’s appeal as a hot global destination for both leisure and business travelers,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “It’s also proof positive of MIA’s strength as a global gateway.”

Air Europa will launch three weekly nonstop flights on June 4, utilizing Airbus A330-200 aircraft arranged in a two-class, 299-seat configuration with 24 seats in Business Class and 275 seats in Economy Class. The private carrier is one of Spain’s largest airlines and a member of the SkyTeam alliance. Through August 17, the service begins with an arrival at MIA, continues with a round-trip flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and then departs from MIA back to Madrid. After August 17, the service will be a direct flight between Miami and Madrid. Air Europa previously served MIA in 2010.

Following successful seasonal Miami-Paris service last summer, French low-cost carrier XL Airways France will again offer seasonal, scheduled passenger service beginning on May 25. The international carrier will offer three weekly nonstop flights utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft in a single-class configuration with 408 seats. The transatlantic service will also carry cargo between two of the world’s 10 busiest airports for international air freight.

“We’re pleased that Air Europa and XL Airways France have chosen to launch scheduled and seasonal service between MIA and two of Europe’s preeminent capitals,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. “The positive economic impact that these new flights will have on our community can’t be understated, as they will bring up to 2,100 visitors here each week who will provide a boost to our tourism sector in the summer months.”
