Nakheel announced that they have received global recognition for their leading design and exceptional vision, from the prestigious construction awards ceremony, held in Italy, by Samoter.

Nakheel is the uniquely focused property development company behind a variety of new landmark developments in Dubai. Its goal is to ultimately implement unique, iconic and genuine solutions that have been created after detailed planning and research.

Since The launch of The Palm, the worlds largest man made island, in 2001 from the vision provided by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, the Nakheel portfolio has grown tremendously. The Palm helped to capture the world`s attention and raise the profile of Dubai in the global arena. The visionary concept marked the beginning of Nakheel`s extraordinary journey which has since seen the company add several mega projects to their stunning property portfolio. Amongst these include a number of developments that compare in magnitude with The Palm, Jumeriah, these include The Palm, Jebel Ali, The Palm, Deira, The World, The Jumeriah Islands, International City, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Nakheel Golf and the most recently launched, Dubai Waterfront Company.

In addition to the international commendation Nakheel received for the iconic creation and dramatic design of both The Palm, and The World projects, Dubai`s direct association with these developments has helped to secure another award for the `International State` supporting these innovative architectural visions of the future.

Mr. Mahmood Saleh, Secretary General for The Corporate Office showed his appreciation for the prestigious award by collecting the prize on behalf of Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Nakheel who has been the driving force in bringing these extraordinary projects to life in Dubai.

Commenting on the global recognition of the country`s work Mr. Saleh said such an international achievement, highlighting the dynamism of Dubai, enables us to convey to the international audience the exceptional speed of development and unparalleled dynamism currently taking place in the United Arab Emirates. As a country we have a clear vision of expansion, and we are uniquely positioned to execute this vision with clarity and speed. For the construction industry the Emirate is an architects dream. Offering extraordinary freedom, the city inspires an incredible quality of conceptual design as it provides designers with a blank canvass to envisage their unique developments and present ideas. The Palm and The World are two such visionary projects. I am delighted that, with the help of Nakheel, these iconic projects are being recognized on a global, as well as national scale.

Commenting on this outstanding honor Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, Nakheel said Nakheel is delighted that the outstanding iconic developments of The Palm and The World have been recognized by a global audience, and on such a prominent international platform. Never before have projects of this magnitude been imagined, let alone undertaken. To be presented with such a highly esteemed award affirms Nakheel`s status as a global player and reflects our acute sense of vision. This accomplishment highlights the immense visionary powers of the company, powers that enable us to not only imagine, but also deliver these mega project promises into a reality.

Nakheel`s fast growing portfolio currently includes the phenomenal projects:

The World – Set to consist of a series of 300 islands, positioned strategically to form the shape of the world map. It will be a haven for investors looking for exclusive and world-class real estate.
