Android users can now enjoy the app’s principal features such as an inspiration screen to find original trip ideas, a saved function which lets users create lists and personalized guides, a new, simplified uploading process, and more.
minube, the online social travel platform is launching a new overhauled and updated application for Android which offers new features like an inspiration screen based on criteria like mood, distance from home, type of trip, or even favorite color.
The app, available at http://minu.be/V2G, lets users search through more than 250,000 places around the world and features over 850,000 photos, all uploaded by a community of over 550,000 real international travelers on minube’s website and iOS and Windows Phone applications (more info at minube.net/iphone). The platform currently receives more than 30 million visits from travelers around the world.
Minube’s aim is to provide the best travel tips to enjoy a city or destination, whether on a trip abroad or a free afternoon at home, by using the real-life recommendations of thousands of international travelers who enjoy the opportunity to offer original suggestions and help others discover interesting places that might not appear in tradition guidebooks.
One of the main features that has been updated is the process of sharing an experience. This process is now much simpler, allowing users to upload their photos and recommendations in seconds, share the experience through social networks (Facebook and Twitter), and give practical recommendations to fellow travelers. These travelers can find information though a search feature which allows users to search for a city, destination, attraction, or establishment, or by using the Inspiration screen.
The Inspiration screen is one of the star features of the app and one of the most popular on other platforms like iOS or web. For instance, users can choose their favorite color and receive dozens of original suggestions, all hand-picked by minube staff, which reflect their choice. It’s also possible to search using your mood or the type of trip you’re looking for, whether its falling in love again, going somewhere exotic, losing yourself for a few days, relaxing, taking a trip with kids, or having a fun trip with your friends, among others. The search interface functions smoothly with only the swipe of the finger and requires no additional information.
Create lists of your favorite places
Another new feature of the minube Android app is the ability to create lists of your favorite destinations, places, and establishments, individually or together with friends, family, or other travelers around the world. You can create a list by creating a title, for instance “Amsterdam Trip 2013,” then saving all the places you consider to be must-sees. This tool not only helps in the travel planning phase, but also during the trip itself, serving as personalized travel guides to help during the trip and share with other travelers.
These lists can be made public or private, the latter requiring the permission of the creator to join. On minube, travelers can find lists covering a variety of topics, from a honeymoon in Morocco, to craft-beer taverns in Madrid, to a guide to exploring the Thai islands. When you’re exploring places to eat, sleep, and visit during your next trip, you can see if they form part of a personalized list.
Finally, another important characteristic of minube is the Social aspect, the ability to find other travelers who share your same interests, tastes, and way of traveling. With the new minube Android app, it’s easy to follow the travels of other users, share lists and interesting places with them, send messages, and more. To ease access to recommendations made by travelers from international destinations, the application has an integrated translation feature dubbed the “Drunken Translator,” which allows users to translate recommendations from other languages (available for English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese).
