Southampton Airport launches new connections to North America

Customers just need to book their flight via the Aer Lingus website or through local travel agents and, with just one airline ticket, they can enjoy seamless onward flights through Dublin.

Flybe has signed a new codeshare agreement with Dublin-based airline Aer Lingus for flights from Southampton Airport. This enables Southampton passengers to access, via a single stop in Dublin, an even wider range of destinations across North America including Boston, New York, San Francisco, Orlando, Chicago and Toronto.

Customers just need to book their flight via the Aer Lingus website or through local travel agents and, with just one airline ticket, they can enjoy seamless onward flights through Dublin. The added benefit is that Dublin Airport also provides US Customs pre-clearance meaning that passengers arrive in the United States as a ‘domestic passenger’ and can proceed straight through to arrivals at their destination, by-passing lengthy US Customs and Immigration queues.

Jan Halliday, Director of Marketing and Communications at Southampton Airport, said: “This new partnership opens up even more world-wide connections for our passengers, with great value flights via Dublin.  By pre-clearing customs in Ireland, customers can save time and avoid stress in the US – fitting perfectly with the relaxed passenger experience at Southampton Airport when they set out.”

Paul Willoughby, Flybe’s Regional General Manager UK (South), added: “Our new codeshare agreement with Aer Lingus is another exciting development for Flybe and we are delighted to be working with such an excellent and well-respected airline. It further demonstrates our commitment to becoming a ‘One Stop to the World’, providing seamless connectivity from the UK regions for our customers so they no longer have to endure the hassle of travelling long haul via the UK’s over-crowded south east hub airports.”
