SWISS adds 34 more destinations to its route network

SWISS will be adding 22 new destinations to its Zurich-based network with the start of the 2015 summer schedules, more than it has ever done before.

SWISS will be introducing service to 22 new destinations from its Zurich hub with the start of the 2015 summer schedules on 29 March. Many of the new routes are intended as “point-to-point” connections, while others will receive seasonal service during the summer months. Frequencies will also be increased on a number of existing European and intercontinental routes. Service will also be expanded from Geneva, bringing SWISS’s Geneva-based network to 42 destinations.

22 new points from Zurich
SWISS will be adding 22 new destinations to its Zurich-based network with the start of the 2015 summer schedules, more than it has ever done before. Many of the new points will strengthen SWISS’s non-stop services to and from neighbouring countries: Leipzig and Dresden in Germany, Toulouse in France and Graz in Austria. And for Italy the seasonal service to Palermo introduced in 2014 becomes a year-round affair, while Bari, Naples and Brindisi are also added to the network.

The new points from Zurich further include a number of vacation destinations such as Thessaloniki, Izmir, Malta, Bilbao and Porto. City-break seekers will be pleased to see the addition of Gothenburg, Helsinki, Santiago de Compostela and Riga. And Ljubljana, Krakow, Sarajevo, Sofia and Zagreb provide further new travel potential. SWISS will also be increasing its frequencies on a number of existing routes from Zurich – to Copenhagen, Hamburg, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Stockholm and Valencia – for the coming summer months.

On its intercontinental network SWISS will be raising its frequencies between Zurich and San Francisco to 13 weekly flights – almost two a day – in the July and August peak summer season.

Expansion from Geneva
SWISS will also be expanding its Geneva-based network from the start of the summer schedules, with year-round service to six new destinations. Florence receives four new weekly services, while Valencia, Sarajevo and Skopje will each have two weekly flights. Algiers and Dublin will also receive new non-stop service from Geneva.

The range of SWISS services from Geneva is further supplemented by a number of attractive seasonal destinations: Biarritz, Calvi, Palermo, Thessaloniki and Zakynthos will all be served in Summer 2015. The expansions further strengthen SWISS’s presence in Western Switzerland, and extend its Geneva-based network to 42 destinations.

More Edelweiss frequencies, too
SWISS will also serve various leisure destinations all over the world in partnership with its sister carrier Edelweiss in Summer 2015. In addition to such popular long-haul destinations as Havana, Vancouver and Las Vegas, frequencies will also be increased to a number of European beach-holiday resorts: Antalya, Larnaca, Olbia, Split and Ibiza all receive more frequencies, while Faro and Catania will join the network as early as next month. In addition, Podgorica and Kerkyra (Corfu) will be added to the network.

Lufthansa Group
The airlines in the Lufthansa Group AirlinesAustrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, Lufthansa and SWISS – will become even more attractive to holidaymakers and leisure travelers this coming summer. The airlines’ offer will be added with popular tourist and leisure-orientated destinations. Passengers will therefore be able to count on the high-quality service and dependability of a scheduled airline. During the summer holidays, many tourist destinations will be bolstered with further seasonal connections. Additional flights are planned to be added to existing city connections. This is good news especially for business travelers. They will be more flexible in managing their appointments.

The forthcoming 2015 summer flight timetable sees airlines in the Lufthansa Group offer their customers the densest route network in the world with more than 22,500 flights every week. Including the seasonal routes this summer, the Lufthansa Group airlines will be linking 321 destinations in 103 countries on four continents via its hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna and Brussels, but also with many point-to-point routes (previous summer: 294 destinations in 101 countries). Over 18,100 code-share flights with 32 partner airlines extend the flight schedule of all Lufthansa Group airlines and offer a virtually world-wide network. The summer flight timetables for the individual Group airlines are valid from Sunday, 29 March to Saturday, 25 October 2015.

The new routes bring the SWISS network to 106 destinations (80 in Europe and 26 farther afield) in 49 countries. The 2015 summer schedules will be in effect from 29 March to 24 October.
