The newly released Frugal Countries Index has examined which countries are the most savvy with their spending and saving.

The study has looked at numerous elements within the 3 main categories of saving, spending and debt to find out which countries are the thriftiest with their money. Elements examined include:
- Everyday spending on items such as food, household expenses, mobile phones
- Amount of household savings
- Search interest around 'saving tips' terms
- Credit card ownership
- Household debt
