Durham Tourism Authority names Green successor

Shelly Green has been named President & CEO-elect by a unanimous vote of the Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Tourism Development Authority. Green, a 19 year veteran of destination marketing, has served as Chief Operating Officer of the Durham CVB since January of 2000.
Green will assume her new position upon the retirement of President Reyn Bowman, scheduled for January 2010.

Mary Simpson, Chair of the Tourism Development Authority and President of M-S Holdings, LLC noted, "We are fortunate to have someone of Shelly’s caliber ready to step into this role. In addition to having a keen understanding of Durham’s product, assets and unique challenges, Shelly has executive experience having served as the head of two other CVB’s in North Carolina."

Compensation for Green will be set at the time she assumes her new position and will be based upon performance and market considerations.
