Metro Toronto Convention Centre to host over 4,500 oral, dental, and craniofacial researchers

Over 4,500 oral, dental, and craniofacial researchers will convene at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) July 2-5, 2008 to present their latest research findings and discuss how to translate these research findings into clinical practice to improve oral health worldwide. The MTCC will be hosting a joint meeting of attendees to the 86th General Session of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR).

Continuing the mission of advancing research and increasing knowledge for the improvement of oral health, the joint IADR/CADR meeting will feature more than 3,500 scientific abstracts, as well as a wide variety of symposia, keynote presentations, and hands-on workshops. The event will also include an exhibition with over 40 international companies.

"IADR members attending the General Session & Exhibition will have the opportunity to network with thousands of colleagues from all over the world and to participate in sessions where the latest and most relevant dental and craniofacial research will be discussed,"
said IADR President, Dr. Deborah Greenspan (University of California, San Francisco).

Current research interests in the field include behavioral, epidemiologic & health services research, cariology, craniofacial biology, pulp biology and regeneration, diagnostic systems, geriatric oral research, salivary research, mineralized tissue, and neuroscience/TMJ, among many others.

The MTCC anticipates this major convention will produce significant revenue for Toronto’s hotels, restaurants, shops and entertainment venues, with an overall economic impact of approximately $9.7 million in direct spending.
