San Francisco hosts international travel trade during California Travel Market

The three day travel trade event which is being coordinated by the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB), the California Travel Industry Association (CalTIA) and the California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) will have more than 90 tour operators, travel wholesalers, airline packagers and online travel agents and 17 travel journalists from fifteen countries in the tenth annual California Travel Market (CTM), February 11-13, 2006.



An extensive itinerary is planned for the group, showcasing the city`s newest attractions plus traditional sights that keep visitors coming back again and again. Highlights include the new de Young Museum, the Exploratorium, a tour of the Ferry Building led by City Guides, SBC (soon to be AT&T Park), the Maritime Museum, The Tribute at the Marine Memorial

Theatre and cruises with Blue and Gold Fleet and Hornblower Cruises.



True to San Francisco`s reputation for culinary excellence, the attendees will eat well during their visit, including functions at Forbes Island, the Fairmont, Cafe de la Presse, Bistro Boudin, Vino Venue and Le Colonial. In honor of Chinese New Year, the Mandarin Restaurant will serve a special Lunar New Year banquet.



Seven hotels are providing accommodations; Hotel Nikko San Francisco, Crowne Plaza Union Square, Handlery Hotel Union Square, Westin St. Francis, Hotel Adagio, Maxwell Hotel and the Orchard Hotel.



Additional support is being provided more than 25 other local and regional sponsors. Following the extensive familiarization tour of San Francisco, the group will travel to Sacramento for a product development conference and marketplace focusing exclusively on California.



Tourism, San Francisco`s largest industry, generates in excess of $6.7 billion annually for the local economy and supports more than 61,000 jobs. According to the CTTC, tourism expenditures total $82.5 billion annually in California, support jobs for nearly 900,000 Californians and generate $5.2 billion in state and local tax revenues.
