Volotea celebrates its 9 millionth passenger

The event took place at Verona airport, where all eyes were on the lucky winner, Claudia Colasuonno, a child aged 4, and her parents.

Volotea, the airline of mid and small‐sized European cities, has transported 9 million passengers, and in order to celebrate it, the company has given to the passenger number 9 millionth, Claudia Colassuono and her parents, a very special present: they will be able to fly to all destinations within Volotea routes from Verona for 1 year.

The lucky passenger and her parents arrived this morning to Verona airport from Bari and they received the good news by Carlos Muñoz, CEO and founder of Volotea; Flavio Tosi, Verona Mayor, and Paolo Arena, Verona airport President, who were waiting for the young winner in order to congratulate her.

Claudia Colasuonno -who was born in Verona the same year as the company- and her parents have received this special prize: they will be able to fly to all destinations within Volotea routes from Verona for 1 year.

“We are very pleased to celebrate 9 millionth passenger” – declared Carlos Muñoz-. “We are honored by the Italian passengers welcome, especially in one of our latest bases, Verona, where we launched the base in November 2015.

In 2017 we will add 3 or 4 new routes and we will increase 10-15% the capacity with a third aircraft that will be based in Catullo airport”.

Volotea is offering 13 destinations departing from Verona distributed in 5 countries: Greece (Santorini), Spain (Ibiza and Majorca,), Moldova (Chisinau), Albania (Tirana) and Italy (Alghero, Bari, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Olbia, Palermo and Naples).

The airline has met success since the beginning of the operation in Verona in 2012. Volotea has transported more than 1 million passengers in Verona until today.

  • Venice: Passenger 1 millionth, Erica Cavalleri, October 2013
  • Bordeaux: Passenger 2 millionth, Soline Venard, April 2014
  • Palermo: Passenger 3 millionth, Manuela Donzelli, June 2014
  • Nantes: Passenger 4 millionth Florence Hugon, February 2015
  • Naples: Passenger 5 millionth, Gianluca Napoli, May 2015
  • Strasbourg: Passenger 6 millionth, Caroline Breitenbucher, September 2015
  • Genoa: Passenger 7 millionth, Salvatore Allia, Marzo 2016
  • Verona: Passenger 8 millionth, Ilaria Spina, June 2016

At the end of this year, Volotea will achieve its 10 millionth passenger.
