ASTA packs agenda for annual conference on board the breakaway to Bermuda

For the first time in its 80+ year existence, ASTA is holding its annual meeting on board a cruise ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, which will sail from New York to Bermuda.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) has added Chief Visioneer of Future Proof Travel Solutions, Nolan Burris, to its evolving and jam-packed agenda for the Sept. 14-21 ASTA Global Convention (AGC) and trade show.

Burris will deliver a keynote address on how travel professionals can become indispensable by moving from agent to advisor; how to market across the generations from gen-Xers to Baby Boomers; how to develop a strong personal brand; and, how agencies can leverage social media to their advantage. Other speakers and panelists include Roger Block, president of Travel Leaders Franchise Group and Gloria Stock Mickelson, senior manager, education & training for Travel Leaders.

For the first time in its 80+ year existence, ASTA is holding its annual meeting on board a cruise ship, the Norwegian Breakaway, which will sail from New York to Bermuda. Norwegian is bringing its entire team of sales directors from across North America to AGC, including Andrew Stuart, EVP of global sales and passenger services and Camille Olivere, SVP of sales. “I can’t think of a better way to bring travel professionals, suppliers and industry experts together to devise a plan to future-proof their businesses while doing what agents do best-exploring a great destination like Bermuda,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby. “You’ve got to work hard to play hard and that’s what we’ll be doing on the Breakaway.”

As convention attendees learn how to “Seas the Future” while on board and in Bermuda, there also will be plenty of opportunities to network and enjoy the ride, including a private sail away party, a Taste of Bermuda reception with the Bermuda Hotel Association and suppliers, and an exclusive evening reception hosted by The Rt. Worshipful Graeme Outerbridge, JP, Mayor of Hamilton, Bermuda, at Pier 6.

ASTA will kick off its AGC with a black-tie gala Advocacy Dinner at the St. Regis New York Hotel in midtown Manhattan to highlight the hard work of those who advocate for travel agents.  New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is invited to thank him for all of his efforts over the years supporting the travel and tourism industry.
