CrossSphere, The Global Association for Packaged Travel, announced its opposition today to the Bush administration`s proposal to increase air security fees. Under the proposal, air passengers could pay as much as $16 per roundtrip, compared to $10 currently.

CrossSphere has had a long history of opposition to onerous taxes and user fees imposed on tour operators, CrossSphere President Hank Phillips, CTP, said. Our industry suffered greatly after 9/11. We should not jeopardize the current recovery by imposing even higher taxes on the industry and the traveling public.

CrossSphere Legislative Counsel Jim Santini added, The CrossSphere Government Relations Committee recently selected taxes and user fees as a priority issue for the association, and we will actively oppose all misguided government efforts to target the traveling public. We will engage our allied associations in this struggle and call upon our Grassroots Action Network to carry our advocacy our point to members of Congress.

CrossSphere, The Global Association for Packaged Travel, is an organization of nearly 4,000 tourism professionals involved in the growth and development of the packaged travel industry. CrossSphere is made up of members from 25 countries and is committed to providing business opportunities and knowledge to its members, while offering a collaborative, caring environment in which to build relationships.
