The British Airways London Eye re-opened yesterday (Thursday 10 February) following its annual maintenance check during which everything from its massive main bearing to the drive wheels were serviced and inspected.
During its month long closure, the ticket office has been redesigned and fitted with three times as many admission tills. A new online booking system has also been launched which enables customers to print their own tickets anywhere in the world.
London Eye managing director, David Sharpe, said: The London Eye celebrates its fifth anniversary this year so we are very excited about re-opening and welcoming our visitors back. In five short years, the wheel has become the UK`s top attraction and a much loved icon for Britain.
The new bespoke booking system is called Rialto Plus. It is multi-lingual and offers a unique shopping basket facility so that guests can buy not just London Eye tickets but a complete London experience which includes theatres, galleries, restaurants, top hotels and a river cruise.
