Financial protection key when booking travel

A growing number of Britons are booking package holidays, going on fewer holidays and seeking financial protection, according to a study by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

LONDON – The UK’s leading niche money insurance comparison website Moneymaxim.co.uk comments on new research which gives an insight into British holidaymaker’s habits. Moneymaxim.co.uk could help elderly travellers find great over 70s travel insurance. In addition, Moneymaxim also offers over 65s travel insurance and over 80 travel insurance.

A growing number of Britons are booking package holidays, going on fewer holidays and seeking financial protection, according to a study by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

Figures show that financial protection, ABTA and ATOL membership are the top three things that consumers look for when booking a holiday.

A massive 77% of holidaymakers said that financial protection was essential when booking a holiday. Moneymaxim urges holidaymakers to take out appropriate travel insurance as a form of financial protection when heading overseas.

Comments Mark Bower, Managing Director of ww.moneymaxim.co.uk; “Holidays are a big investment so it’s no surprise that travellers want financial protection. Travel insurance is a great financial product which could give you peace of mind and let you relax knowing that should anything happen you’re financially covered.

“It can be harder for older travellers to find the right kind insurance which will accommodate their needs. This is why Moneymaxim.co.uk offers a range of specialist travel insurance including diabetes travel insurance, over 70 travel insurance and more.

“Not only can travel insurance protect the obvious medical and lost luggage risks, but many policies also offer scheduled airline failure insurance, which for those booking their flights independently is invaluable added protection. Travellers can compare different rates and levels of cover to find the best possible deal for them.”

The research also found that nearly half (48%) of people polled opted for an overseas package holiday instead of independently booked travel. This could largely be explained by the cost effectiveness of package holidays and the added financial security that booking a package holiday often brings.

In addition, Britons are taking less holidays than in previous years. UK adults took an average of 3.51 holidays in 2012 in the UK or overseas and this has fallen from 3.82 in 2011.
