Iceland Convention and Incentive Bureau wins ICCA Best Marketing Award

The Iceland Convention and Incentive Bureau won the ICCA Best Marketing Award. The winner was announced during closing session at the 49th ICCA Congress in Hyderabad, India.

"How can you turn a volcanic eruption and a Europe-wide no-fly zone into a marketing success story?" That was the challenge that Iceland faced this year. Anna Valdimarsdottir from Iceland Convention and Incentive Bureau wowed the 720 attendees from 59 countries attending ICCA’s flagship event by demonstrating how this disaster was turned into a nationwide, all-citizen, global marketing campaign, resulting in a tiny reduction in business compared to what had originally been expected.

"I’m almost overwhelmed – this is such great news," said Anna Valdimarsdottir after the results were announced. "To get this sort of recognition from your peers just can’t be described, and I’m so looking forward to spreading the news to my colleagues and friends back home in Iceland".

Congratulations also go out to the other finalists of this year’s Best Marketing Award: ExCeL London, United Kingdom and Sandton Convention Centre, South Africa.

The ICCA Best Marketing Award, established in 1997, recognises the excellence and outstanding achievements of organisations in their effort to market their destination or product. Entries can range from full scale campaigns and branding exercises to individual promotions and events. The ICCA Best Marketing Award is sponsored by Bedouk Meetings & Events Media and is open to ICCA members only.
