The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) is pleased to announce George H.W. Bush, forty-first President of the United States, will speak at its 38th Annual International Convention & Exposition, hosted July 16-19 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Mr. Bush will address more than 5,000 corporate and government travel managers and suppliers during the convention’s General Session on Tuesday, July 18.

“Business travel is an important economic driver in the United States and the global economy,” said President Bush. “On a more personal level, I travel frequently for business. For both of these reasons, I look forward to addressing the premier gathering of professionals who make business travel work.”

NBTA President and CEO, Suzanne Fletcher, said “NBTA is honored to welcome President Bush to the upcoming NBTA International Convention & Exposition. In many ways, Mr. Bush is the ultimate business traveler. More importantly, we look forward to hearing his insights as a leading figure in U.S. politics, foreign affairs and global humanitarian efforts.”

Fletcher continued, “Mr. Bush has been instrumental in the rebuilding of the regions devastated by Hurricane Katrina, an act of nature that had significant impact on the travel industry and national economy. These efforts, along with his other humanitarian work, together with his knowledge of the global market place and the accomplishments of his career, make Mr. Bush an outstanding addition to the NBTA International Convention & Exposition.”

The NBTA Convention has served host to many of the world’s most influential and well-respected figures, including Tom Ridge, former Governor of Pennsylvania and first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security; Steve Forbes, Founder and CEO of Forbes, Inc.; and Dr. Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of State and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Mr. Bush’s appearance is made possible by the support of Travelport I Orbitz for Business, sponsor of the Tuesday General Session.
