Aena network: Airlines have scheduled 15.1% more seats for this winter season compared to the winter 2022

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Palma de Mallorca and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airports are the ones with the largest number of seats available

The airlines have scheduled 126.6 million seats and nearly 731,000 commercial operations for the winter season that started on 29 October and will continue until 30 March 2024. This adds up to 15.1% more seats than those operated in the same season in 2022-2023.

Aena‘s airports from which the most seats are offered are Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with more than 31.4 million and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 23.8 million. Both airports are registering higher figures than in 2022 when they offered 12% and 20%, respectively. They are followed by the airports of Malaga-Costa del Sol, with 9.1 million seats (+26%); Gran Canaria, with 8.6 million (+12%); Tenerife Sur, with 7.5 million (+15%); Palma de Mallorca, with 7.2 million(+13%) y Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 6.3 million (+23%).

There are 2,377 routes for the winter season, representing an increase of 145 compared to winter 2022. The airports with the highest number of additional routes compared to the last winter season are Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 25 more routes, César Manrique-Lanzarote, with 23, and Malaga-Costa del Sol, with 17.

By geographic area, the Latin American and domestic markets are outstanding, with 68.7 million seats, an increase of 19% over 2022 levels;
and the domestic market, with 44.8 million seats, up by 7%. The market that has grown the most in percentage terms with respect to the same season of 2022 is Asia, with around 621,000 seats scheduled (+257%).

After Spain, the countries where airlines have offered the largest number of seats for the winter season are the United Kingdom, with 16.1 million (+18%), Germany, with 10.4 million (+20%), Italy, with 7.8 million, (+27%), France, with 6.2 million (+12%) and the Netherlands, with 3.9 seats offered (+12%).

Among the main destinations, those which have grown most in percentageterms are Poland (+98% of seats offered compared to 2022), Czechia (+83%), Hungary (+61%), the United Arab Emirates (+42%) and Austria (+30%).

This notwithstanding, this seating and movement schedule is always subject to changes by the airlines.
