Continental Airlines announced new nonstop service four times a week between Houston`s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Huatulco, Mexico, beginning Dec. 17, pending government approval.
With the addition of Huatulco, Continental will serve 29 cities in Mexico, and will offer the only nonstop service from the United States to Huatulco. Continental already serves more Mexican destinations from the U.S. than any other airline.
The Continental Express flight is scheduled to depart Houston at 9:30 a.m., arriving in Huatulco at 12:29 p.m. The return flight is scheduled to leave Huatulco at 1:30 p.m., arriving in Houston at 4:22 p.m.
We are very pleased to add Huatulco to our growing list of convenient travel options to Mexico, said Pete Garcia, Continental`s staff vice president for Latin America, Airlines. Continental operates more than 350 flights each week from the U.S. to Mexico, more than any other carrier.
Continental will operate an Embraer-145 regional jet with seating for 50 customers on the new service to Huatulco, the common name for the resort area known as the Bays of Huatulco on Mexico`s Oaxacan coast. Popular leisure activities include hiking, snorkeling, sailing and diving — Mexico`s largest coral reef is located just off the Oaxacan coast. Near Huatulco is Puerto Escondido, a resort area where the visitor can find the best surf beaches.
