Heading to Singapore? Here’s what you should see

No matter what makes you curious about visiting Singapore, know that many eye-opening experiences await you. Here are several sites you can’t miss if you’re visiting Singapore for the first time!

If you're looking to make a quick tourist stop, the sovereign island city-state of Singapore is less than half London's size and is a pleasure to explore. It is a hub for entrepreneurs and tourists and offers amazing natural reserves, architecture, and culture. The city-state's high-rise living spaces are even considered beautiful, like the Parc Olympia condominium.

No matter what makes you curious about visiting Singapore, know that many eye-opening experiences await you. Here are several sites you can't miss if you're visiting Singapore for the first time!

Be amazed at the Gardens By The Bay
Gardens By The Bay is nothing short of iconic. It is art, architecture, and nature all wrapped into one package. Mostly known for its grove of 18 Supertrees, these are artificial trees of varying heights that people love to pose in front of. Some of them tower at a staggering 50 meters. The gardens aren't just beautiful to look at; they collect rainwater and generate solar power as an alternative energy source.

While the Gardens are scattered with sculptures from around the world, elevated walkways allow you to move between certain trees and catch a great view of surrounding Singapore.

Gasp in horror at Haw Par Villa
Haw Par Villa is an Asian cultural park, the last of its kind in the world. Over 1,000 statues and 150 dioramas depict scenes from Chinese mythology, folklore, and legends. An unmissable cultural attraction, it also offers the opportunity to learn about your cultural surroundings.

Undoubtedly, the most famous attraction is the Ten Courts of Hell. Now, this might not be the most family-friendly place to visit. But it's the perfect destination for adults that crave horror. Witness a series of small-scale tableaux that demonstrate human sinners being punished in various gory ways. Responsible for the childhood nightmares of many generations of Singaporeans, the gory scenes have created a myth that the exhibition is a gateway to hell itself.

Get close to the equator at Palawan Beach
It's not quite “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” but it's close. Located between Sentosa's Siloso Beach and Tanjong Beach, Palawan Beach is considered incredibly family-friendly- perfect if you want to ignore the kids' clamors to see the Ten Courts of Hell.

There is a small island that is easy to swim to if you're adventurous. If you're a nervous swimmer, there is a suspension rope bridge that crosses over to continental Asia's most southern point. Or, if you want to push yourself and aren't afraid of a little height, climb up the watchtower to get a stunning view of Sentosa Beach.

See it all on the coast-to-coast trail
This 36-kilometer trail travels across the island, linking Jurong Lake Gardens in the west to Serangoon Island in the northeast. If you cycle, it can be covered in a day or less. Think of the workout you're getting as you get to see some of the most beautiful sights Singapore has to offer.

An easy way to pack a week's worth of sightseeing into one day, this trail covers Singapore's most beautiful parks and nature reserves. MacRitchie Reservoir and Bukit Batok Nature Park are only a select few of the places you will see. If you want the most comprehensive tour of Singapore's beauty, this is the destination for you.

Pack your bags
There's no doubt in our minds that these four destinations will impress you and prove how unique Singapore really is. The Coast-To-Coast trail and Haw Par Villa are not for the faint of heart, but journeying to Palawan Beach and a trip through the Gardens By The Bay is ideal for the whole family. There really is something for everyone in Singapore!
