Six things to do in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. This country has much to offer.

The Dominican Republic is known for its beautiful beaches, blue ocean waters, and exciting resorts. It is one of the most breathtaking Caribbean countries and, surprisingly, one of the cheapest to visit. If you are a thrill-seeker or just got a vacation from work and are confused about where to travel, we advise you to consider traveling to this area. It has many side attractions apart from the major tourist areas, and there are several ways you can have a good time there.

Things to pack when going to the Dominican Republic
We would like to give you one less thing to worry about while planning a Dominican Republic trip. So here is a list of things to include in your luggage:

  • Lightweight sweater or jackets
  • A beach towel
  • A money belt
  • Summer clothes including shorts and tank tops because the Dominican climate is hot
  • Sandals and sneakers
  • Water shoes because there are rocky areas

Note that you can not carry animals, horticultural, and agricultural products into the Dominican republic.

Things to do in the Dominican Republic

1. Visit Saona Island
The National Park protects Saona Island and is off the Southern Coast of the Dominican Republic. Lovely beaches line this island and it is a great place to start your Dominican Republic vacation. This area’s population is around 300 people, so beach and eco-touring are the main things to experience there. You can also visit the island's lagoons and go offshore snorkeling. The island is around 15 miles long (25 kilometers) and 3 miles wide (5 kilometers).

2. Visit Columbus Lighthouse (Faro O Colon)
Columbus Lighthouse is rich in Dominican Republic culture. It is a bold and cross-like structure that serves as a tribute to one of the world's most famous explorers, Christopher Columbus. It looks more like an urban office building than a museum. The lighthouse projects a unique cross-shaped beam that shines as far as Puerto Rico’s shores. According to locals, you can find the remains of Columbus there.

3. Meet beautiful Dominican Women
White Sandy beaches and clear blue water makes the Dominican Republic a perfect holiday resort. It is an ideal spot to enjoy and experience the authentic Caribbean. But the people are even lovelier. If you visit the Dominican Republic, you should mingle with Dominican women.

You can often find women of the Dominican Republic in the cities, public markets and beaches. You can start from Macao beach if you are confused. It is a public beach that so many locals and tourists love to visit. You can lounge on the sand, boogie board, and even learn to surf on the big breakers of the beach. If you are lucky enough, you just might meet some Dominican Republic Girls and snag one for yourself.

4. Swim at the Sirenis Aquagames Punta Cana
Sirenis is a water park covering 12,000 square meters and comes with a vast array of services and features. It features a swimming pool right in the middle of the park and a restaurant area with grills, pizza, and hamburgers. It also boasts a ten-meter high tower, a fall twister, and a speed slide with four lanes.

Kids are also not left out of the fun. There is a nursery to keep your children entertained if you have any. There is also a Caribbean pirate-themed area for older children to ensure everyone has fun at the Sirenis.

5. Interact with marine life at the Ocean World Adventure Park, Marina and Casino
Dominican republic holidays are not complete without visiting Ocean World Adventure Park. It is a unique park that prioritizes visitors interacting directly with the animals in a supervised environment. Right next to the Marina is the Ocean world park. It features an ocean-themed casino filled with mosaics of whales, dolphins, and tropical fishes. It also hosts a live dance show and has a disco lounge.

The resort has a one visit per person per stay policy, so you should book with a concierge.

6. Snorkel at Sosua Beach (Playa Sosua)
Sosua Beach lies between Puerto Plata and Cabarete. It is famous for its protected calm waters, coral reefs, and various fish and marine life. The Bay attracts snorkelers and divers, and it is a perfect spot for cruising. The fun thing about this beach is that you still get the chance to see what is underneath the water with or without being a snorkeler or diver. Yes, the water is unbelievably clear.

From meeting the friendly locals to basking at the beautiful beaches mentioned, you can’t run out of fun experiences. Whether you are a single individual or a family person, holidaying in the Dominican Republic is highly recommended.
