Planning a honeymoon trip to the Maldives? Here are five travel tips

When it comes to exotic coral islands, pristine and smooth beaches, spectacular sunsets, lush greenery, and warm waters, the Maldives manage to attain perfection. So, it is the ideal romantic destination for any honeymooning couple.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But no one can argue against the Maldives being one of the most beautiful locations on the planet.

When it comes to exotic coral islands, pristine and smooth beaches, spectacular sunsets, lush greenery, and warm waters, the Maldives manage to attain perfection. So, it is the ideal romantic destination for any honeymooning couple.

But before you can lay back and gaze into your partner’s eyes on a faraway beach in the Indian Ocean, you need to plan your trip. Here are five great tips to help you get started.

1. Choose the right island resort for you
With the Maldives consisting of around 1,200 islands, of which 200 are inhabited, you will need to spend some time determining which island is best for your honeymoon. The resort of Kandolhu Maldives comes recommended.

The beauty and tranquility of the island is pure fairytale stuff. You and your partner can enjoy crystal-clear waters and coral reefs, velvet-like white sands, and exquisite villas, set among a luscious green backdrop. Others to consider include Biyadhoo, Maafushivaru Maldives, and Finolhu.

2. Choose a comprehensive vacation package
A honeymoon should be as relaxing, fun, and carefree as possible, so you should consider going down the comprehensive vacation package route to ensure everything is taken care of, such as your flights, accommodation, and transfers.

And many of the luxury resorts on the Maldives offer special honeymoon packages that include things like free bottles of champagne, special excursions, massages, and private beach dinners. You will find Maldives vacation packages available to suit all budgets.

But if there is ever a time to splash out, your honeymoon is it. All-inclusive packages also include a variety of board options, which include meals, snacks, and soft and alcoholic drinks.

3. Determine the best time to visit
One reason that the Maldives makes an ideal honeymoon destination is the year-round high temperatures and sunny skies.

You can enjoy seventy or eighty-degree heat most times of the year, but you should avoid going between May and October because the monsoon season of heavy rain comes in full force. November to April tends to be dry and sunny. December to March is the peak season.

4. Plan your packing
With so much going on during the wedding and honeymoon period, you will want to make sure you plan packing for your trip to the Maldives early on. Sunscreen is an essential not to be forgotten, as you are sure to be spending plenty of time in glorious sunshine on beautiful beaches.

A good camera is also a necessity. You will want to capture all of your fabulous honeymoon memories for prosperity. Just as important as a camera is the charger or batteries! The Maldives can be pretty humid, so you should also take insect repellent with you.

Make sure you pack clothes for a variety of settings too. You will need daywear, swimwear, and eveningwear.

5. Plan where to go and what to do
If you prefer being loose-footed, you may not want to plan too much in advance. But it can actually be beneficial to plan the places you want to go and the things you want to do prior to arriving so that you do not miss out on any attractions and you make the most of your time on the beautiful islands.

You can go scuba diving and snorkeling, try a variety of watersports, go sailing, visit a spa, or soak up the lively atmosphere of the capital Malé, to name just a few options.
