Beachfront surf hotel in San Diego is now open

  • Wayfarer San Diego
  • Poolside Cabana Suite
  • Oceanfront Queen Suite
  • Zephyr Cafe, The Wayfarer San Diego Interior Lobby Seating Area

A surf-chic haven for fun in the sun, The Wayfarer San Diego presents refreshed guestrooms, a reimagined lobby area with art installations and a curated book library, and a new locally sourced café concept.

Wayfarer San Diego, a surf-chic beachfront hotel, is now open along the shores of San Diego’s Pacific Beach.

Formerly known as the Blue Sea Beach Hotel, the transformed property features a coastal-meets-modern design inspired by the vibrant surf and skate culture of the surrounding community.

What locals and travelers can expect from the new property:

  • Stay: Wayfarer San Diego’s 126 coastal-inspired rooms and suites feature private balconies – most with ocean views – custom art by famed street artist, Cheyenne Randall, bold bohemian textiles complimented by modern metal accents, statement rugs and vintage-inspired furniture. Designed with groups in mind, updated suites are complete with private bedrooms, innovative bunk beds and comfortable lounge areas.
  • Eat: Open from sunup to sundown, Zephyr Café pays homage to the legendary SoCal Zephyr skateboarding team, the Z-Boys, and features creative installations such as polaroid images of San Diego on the walls and speaker heads along the front of the bar. Tapping into the local culture, the café serves roasts from San Diego staple, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, and craft canned cocktails from Cutwater Spirits, along with bites such as the Nashville Hot Biscuit Sammy, pizzas and a beverage program that allows guests to craft their own mini cocktails.
  • Relax: A refreshing seaside escape, guests can settle into a dreamlike getaway complemented by afternoons at the heated outdoor pool, dips in the adjacent Pacific Ocean, and evenings stargazing by outdoor firepits. The new pool deck features custom daybeds and a curated mural titled “Sirens” by David Flores, exuding bold blue hues representing the ocean.
  • Explore: Travelers can adopt the San Diego lifestyle with a bike ride along the boardwalk, a short stroll to the Crystal Pier and Belmont Park, or a surf session via the hotel’s partnership with Pacific Surf School. Guests can also grab local gear from brands including Catch Surf and Pura Vida from the hotel’s retail shop. Located in the heart of “PB,” the property is an ideal destination for exploring the town’s local restaurants and vibrant nightlife, from the oceanfront tiki bar, Beach House, to line dancing and live music at Moonshine Beach.
