InterContinental Hotels Group confirms that the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, the Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island and the Holiday Inn Penang Malaysia are affected by tidal waves, resulting from an earthquake in Indonesia on 26 December 2004. Current information on the hotels is as follows:
- On Holiday Inn Resort Phi Phi Island and Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, Thailand
Both hotels have moved its guests and staff to a safe location while some are still unaccounted for. The hotels are working closely with the authorities to ascertain their whereabouts. We are very concerned about the situation and our immediate priority is to ensure that every effort will be made to ensure guests’ and staff’s safety and well being. Unfortunately, the incident has affected all communications into and out of Phuket, however, we will continue to obtain more information so that we can provide updates to all concerned - On Holiday Inn Resort Penang, Malaysia
Guests and staff at the Holiday Inn Resort Penang, Malaysia have all been accounted for and to date there has been no casualties - On Holiday Inn Columbo, Sri Lanka
The hotel is not affected and it is business as usual. The hotel is working with the authorities to assist and provide alternative accommodation to those in the affected areas
