Matthew La Vine appointed new General Manager at Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder

In his new post, La Vine will oversee the day-to-day operations of 395 guest rooms and suites.

SANTA FE, N.M. – Hilton announced the appointment of Matthew La Vine to the position of general manager of Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder. In his new post, La Vine will oversee the day-to-day operations of 395 guest rooms and suites, a $2 million Native American Art collection, 16,000 square feet of wellness, fitness and spa amenities, an expansive outdoor pool complex, five restaurants, award-winning golf and more than 66,000 square feet of meeting space.

Most recently, La Vine held the position of general manager at The Fess Parker – A DoubleTree by Hilton Resort in Santa Barbara, California, where he led the day-to-day operations of the iconic four diamond beach-front property, the city’s largest resort. La Vine successfully steered the resort through various high level initiatives including a $7 million renovation and the opening of a proprietary wine tasting room in partnership with Fess Parker Family Winery.

La Vine was general manager at Edgewater Beach Hotel in Naples, Florida, where he led a multi-million dollar renovation of the luxury resort, and hotel manager at the 200-suite Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood. Prior to that, La Vine was the rooms manager at the 297 room St. Regis Hotel in Century City. He began his career in hospitality with Four Seasons Resorts where he held a variety of positions with increasing responsibilities over an 11- year tenure.

La Vine was born in Los Angeles, California, and he attended University of Nevada-Las Vegas where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in hotel management. Active in local hospitality and tourism organizations as well as community events, Matthew was chair of the Santa Barbara Visitors and Convention Bureau for 2013 and 2014 where he remains on the Executive Committee. He was also on the Board of the Greater Santa Barbara Lodging and Restaurant Association. He enjoys unique culinary experiences, the arts, high performance cars and hiking with his wife Katie and their two Vizsla hunting dogs.
