Starwood Hotels opens Mykonos Luxury Collection unit

Starwood<.> Hotels and Resorts announced in Athens recently that it added its first Greek island property to its long list of prestigious Luxury Collection hotels. The Hotel Santa Marina<.> at Ornos Bay on Mykonos, one of the most-visited and well-known Greek islands, joined the group officially on July 22.
Starwood`s senior vice president for development in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Michael Mueller, told TravelDailyNews that his company takes over the management of the property but has not taken any equity in the company: This does not mean we would not be willing to do so in the future. He added that the Santa Marina was the group`s first destination on the Greek islands and we will continue to look for similarly advantageous development opportunities in many areas of Greece, especially the island, Athens and Thessaloniki areas.
The group`s newest property is easily accessible from Athens and other Greek cities with hourly flights of 30 minutes. The Santa Marina boasts 90 rooms that includes 23 luxury suites and three prestigious villas, complete with their own swimming pools, as well as all the modern
facilities found in any exclusive, luxury resort unit. The hotel is located directly on the Aegean Sea and boasts an expansive sea-front and ocean-bay frontage on three sides.
It can be booked now through any of Starwood`s call centers, Internet sites (www.starwood.com) or global distribution systems, with all stays earning `Starpoints` or airline mileage points for Starwood preferred guest members.
