Starwood<.> Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc has opened a new hotel, the Westin Rotterdam – raising to three the number of units the company operates in the Netherlands.

The new, 231-room establishment is situated in the heart of Rotterdam`s business and financial district. Its location opposite the city`s main railway station allows guests easy access to high-speed train services to Brussels while Schiphol airport and the capital of Amsterdam are a short distance away. The Westin Rotterdam is linked by a flyover bridge to the De Doelen shopping centre.

It is the first hotel in Europe to offer Westin`s Heavenly Beds in every room and suite, a concept first introduced in the US last year.

The Heavenly Bed comprises a specially designed mattress and pillow, high quality covers and linen, and several large pillows.

The Westin Rotterdam also has six modern convention rooms and a restaurant. We are proud of this hotel which has joined the Westin group in the Netherlands and our continuous efforts to expand in Europe, said Roeland Vos, Starwood`s Europe chairman.

This year we gave nine historic hotels throughout the world the Westin name in order to allow our clients to sample our unique hospitality and Rotterdam is another step in that direction.

Westin now has 15 hotels throughout Europe including establishments in Madrid, Rome, Florence, Versailles and Berlin. The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort is due to open this autumn in Marbella, Spain. Starwood has 725 hotels in 80 countries.
