TripAdvisor now drives 10% of hotel bookings from US accommodation only sites

Booking engines play an important role in hotel reservations worldwide.

U.S. – TripAdvisor‘s dominance in the world of online hotel bookings is illustrated once again with data showing it is capturing one tenth of traffic to accommodation sites in the US – more than double that of the number two site, Priceline’sBooking.com.

According the latest data from Experian Hitwise and Tnooz, TripAdvisor reached at 10.22% market share in online hotel bookings in the US in July, adding at 0.25% market share only from June to July this year. Followed by Priceline’s Booking.com with a market share of 4.9% and Hotels.com with 3.8%.

Missing on that list is Expedia’s hotel business, which is listed number one in Hitwise’s OTA category with 14.7%.

The highest ranking chain in the US is Marriott with 2.5% market share in the destination and accommodation category.
