New developments coming to Mazatlán in 2024

Go Mazatlán

In the new year, the ‘Pearl of the Pacific’ prepares to welcome visitors with new hotels and attractions that will elevate its offerings.

MAZATLAN, MEXICO – The Mazatlán Tourism Board announce new developments in 2024 within the hospitality, commercial, and aerospace industries. In the new year, the city will welcome Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlán Golf & Spa Resort, Fiesta Americana Zona Dorada, and Nus Wyndham Garden Suites, among others. Simultaneously, Mazatlán will become a significant player in the aerospace industry with the opening of the Mazatlán Aerospace Park, which will be the epicenter for research and development of Mexico’s aerospace industry.

“Mazatlán remains a preferred city for tourism in Mexico for visitors, who enjoy our beautiful beaches, gastronomy, attractions, and historic landmarks. Due to this reputation, we have seen a continued growth in investments in our city’s offerings. We are excited to welcome new hotels, commercial plazas, and an aerospace park to Mazatlán’s growing portfolio of business and hospitality brands,” said Estrella Palacios Domínguez, Secretary of Tourism for the State. “We are confident that these new partnerships will continue to establish Mazatlán as top-of-mind among visitors from North American and beyond.”

The Municipal Government of Mazatlán shared that the projects developed this year in the city amassed an initial investment of about USD 817 million. In 2023, Mazatlán worked on 45 projects, of which 64% were related to the tourism-real estate industry. The hotels opening in 2024 will add 900 rooms to the city’s flourishing hospitality portfolio. Most notably, the Dreams Estrella Del Mar Mazatlán Golf & Spa Resort is expected to open in April 2024 and will include eight on-site restaurants and an 18-hole golf course, and the Nus Wyndham Garden Suites will debut in Q2 of 2024 in the new Marina Mazatlán neighborhood. In addition, Grupo Posadas will open Fiesta Americana Mazatlán in 2024, as well as two new hotels under the InterContinental Hotel Groups brand in the Golden Zone and the Marina Mazatlán. Adding to the new innovative tourism offerings coming to Mazatlán will be the inauguration of the NUS Suites & Plaza commercial center, featuring new restaurants, bars, and shopping stores on the ground floor of the Nus Wyndham Garden Suites property.

Expanding its foray as a center of science and research in Mexico, the city will be home to The Mazatlán Aerospace Park. Expected to begin operations in January of 2024, the new addition will position Mazatlán as a leading global investment destination in aerospace manufacturing. The facility will conduct maintenance and repairs of aircraft, host a cargo terminal, and house a laboratory for research and new developments that will allow for testing of experimental flights. Located only 10 minutes from the city’s Historic District is expected to create new jobs for Mexican professionals in tech and science.

Moreover, most recently, Mazatlán debuted Gran Acuario Mazatlán “Mar de Cortés, the largest aquarium in Mexico and considered among one of the most important in Latin America. Located within walking-distance from the popular 12-mile-long boardwalk that lines the Pacific Ocean coast, the aquarium invites visitors to appreciate the biodiversity found in the Sea of Cortez, declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2015.
