AirPlus win ‘Best Corporate Card Provider’ at the Business Travel Awards for Mobile Payment Solution

After a show stopping night at the acclaimed Grosvenor House Hotel, AirPlus were delighted to walk away with the award for ‘Best Corporate Card Provider’ in a competitive category.

LONDON – Over 1,300 travel buyers and suppliers came together last night to celebrate the best of the business travel industry, at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in central London. Following a Tron themed champagne reception sponsored by AirPlus, guests congregated in the Great Room to hear the awards announced, over a top quality meal and hosted by comedian Omid Djalili.

Twenty-two award category winners were announced and AirPlus were delighted to be awarded in the Best Corporate Card Provider category, against American Express, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclaycard and WEX CorporatePay. The strength of the category’s participants further adds merits of winning, and stands as testament to the ongoing innovations AirPlus take to market in order to keep the product portfolio in line with customer needs.

The award entry focused mainly on the launch of the Mobile A.I.D.A. Virtual Card Solution, which enables travellers to generate single-use MasterCard numbers while on the road on their mobile phone. Once the payment is made, it is charged back to their company’s centrally billed account, the AirPlus Company Account.

Moreover the entry made mention of the year on year improvements to customer satisfaction scores, the development of business turnover and profitability, as well as AirPlus’ dedication to corporate social responsibility.

Yael Klein, Managing Director from AirPlus said: “I am so pleased to announce that we have won the award for Best Corporate Card Provider 2014. It is a great testimony to the hard work and dedication that our teams in the UK and abroad have put into developing a new solution to make the payment process for travellers even easier. The new Mobile A.I.D.A. solution is the first of its kind in the market and we are very proud indeed!”

Comments from the judges: “This was a strong submission; the judges were particularly impressed by the winner’s new mobile solutions, innovation and understanding of traveller needs at all levels.”
