The Tourism Authority of Thailand is training school pupils from one school in each of Thailand`s four regions in how to welcome foreign visitors. The programme, announced by the TAT`s marketing director Mrs. Yearayong Chairat, forms part of the government`s `One District, One Dream School` project.

Mrs. Yearayong said that the TAT had selected the four schools for their proximity to major tourist destinations in Nakhon Si Thammarat in the South, Petchabun in the North, Nakhon Ratchasima in the Northeast and Samut Songkhram in the central region.

Students at Lanska Prachasan School in Nakhon Si Thammarat who are undertaking the training this week will be taught English skills and how to be a good host to foreign visitors.

Once the training programme has been completed, pupils from all four schools will come together to exchange ideas and engage in joint activities, while the schools will act as pilot schools for school trips from abroad.
